What are Eyelash Extensions?
Like hair extensions, eyelash extensions are an application of either synthetic or human hair lashes that are applied to create a fuller, longer looking eyelash. Whether you want natural or something more dramatic, eyelashes come in various lengths, colors and thicknesses, and can be worn during sleep, showering and swimming.
What are the different Eyelash Extensions?
The False lashes are single piece eyelashes (a.k.a. tab or strip lashes) that are glued into place for a more dramatic look.. The individual lashes are applied over your natural lash one-by-one. You can achieve a natural or dramatic look with your choice of longer, thicker or curlier lashes. Cluster Lashes are 2-3 lashes grouped together in clusters to give you a more dramatic look.
How long do Eyelash Extensions last?
Your eyelashes grows and sheds naturally in cycles of 60-90 day. This can be affected daily activities, how well you care for the lashes and what type of eyelashes and adhesive you use. False lashes are temporary, ‘Party,’ lashes that lasts from 1-2 days. The individuals due to it being a single lash can lasts from 4-6 weeks. Cluster lashes are much heavier and will last only 1-2 weeks. Daily activities can also effect the duration of your lashes including:
1 .Constant touching of lashes.
2. Exposure to steamy showers/baths/cooking pasta or even heat froma blow dryer
3. Certain types of oil-based mascaras or eyeliners
4. Clients sleeping on one side of their face will have lashes fall out more on one side than the other.
Again your natural eyelash cycle is 60-90 days, so it is recommend to get refills every 2-3 weeks. If you wait too long, you may have a slight ‘gap’ in appearance of eyelashes and to fill in requires a new full set.
Can I apply mascara to Eyelash Extensions?
Most clients will not use mascara since the extensions give the illusion of fuller, longer lashes. If you decide to wear mascara ONLY USE Water based mascara. DO NOT USE any oil or water proof mascara. Mascara that is oil based can dissolve the glue and shorten the life span of your extensions and cause them to fall out sooner.
How are Eyelash Extensions applied?
Depending on what types of eyelashes you get, the procedure can take a few minutes with the False ones, 20 minutes for clusters and 1.5-2 hours for a full set of individual which include anywhere from 25-75 lashes depending on the look you want to achieve. Since you will be lying down with closed eyes for this procedure, we often ask clients to take this time to have a rest as it can be quite a relaxing process. Please no talking on cell phones as it may disrupt the service. For safety reasons, we apply eye pads over your bottom lashes. The lash tech will then isolate a single natural lash & apply a synthetic lash which has been dipped into the medical grade glue, which is repeated one by one until the desired look is achieved. Some clients may have sensitivity to adhesive you may get redness or watery eyes, which will disappear once adhesive fully dries. We recommend that the first 12-48 hrs you reserve extreme caution with your eyelash extensions and do not apply water on or near the lashes
